Defence Ministry Finalizes ₹1,950-Crore Contract with BEL for Indigenous Mountain Radar Systems
The procurement process is set to align with the Indian governments Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make in India initiatives. These programs aim to bolster domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports by promoting local production of goods and services.
The Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, launched in 2020, is designed to enhance the countrys self-sufficiency across various sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, and technology. Similarly, the Make in India campaign, introduced in 2014, seeks to encourage both multinational and domestic companies to manufacture their products within the country.
The alignment of procurement strategies with these initiatives is expected to not only encourage local businesses but also create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall competitiveness of Indian industries on a global scale. Furthermore, it may lead to enhanced quality of products and services, as well as innovation in various sectors.
