ECI Increases Remuneration for Poll Officials Ahead of Upcoming Assembly Elections in Five States

The Election Commission has announced an increase in the daily allowance for presiding officers from ₹350 to ₹500. This adjustment raises the maximum total allowance for a presiding officers assignment to ₹2,000. The decision aims to enhance the remuneration for those overseeing election processes, thereby recognizing the crucial role they play in ensuring fair and efficient elections.

This change comes in the context of ongoing electoral preparations, with upcoming elections expected to require substantial oversight. As presiding officers are responsible for managing polling stations and ensuring compliance with electoral regulations, the enhanced allowance may help attract and retain qualified individuals for these important positions.
