Foreign Secretary Misri Concludes U.S. Visit Focused on Strengthening Nuclear Cooperation and Potential LPG Exports

U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergei Gor, expressed the United States readiness to collaborate with India on civil nuclear cooperation, alongside initiatives in other sectors including coal gasification and the export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the U.S. During his remarks, Ambassador Gor emphasized the significance of strengthened bilateral ties, particularly in energy security and sustainable development.

The potential for civil nuclear cooperation between the two nations follows the U.S.-India Civil Nuclear Agreement established in 2008, aimed at expanding access to civil nuclear technology while addressing safety and non-proliferation concerns. Furthermore, coal gasification, which converts solid coal into gas for cleaner energy production, has gained attention as countries seek to transition to more environmentally friendly energy sources.

With regard to LPG, the U.S. has positioned itself as one of the leading suppliers of natural gas, which is integral to meeting Indias growing energy demand. This partnership not only focuses on energy but also aims to enhance economic ties and promote innovation in technology and infrastructure development between the two countries.
