Government Announces ₹60,000 Crore Subsidy and Amrit Bharat Trains to Enhance Affordable Rail Travel, Says Vaishnaw
The Railway Minister announced that a total of 133 Amrit Bharat trains are currently in different stages of manufacturing. These new trains are part of a broader initiative to enhance rail services across India. Notably, services have already started in various states, including West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, reflecting the governments commitment to improving connectivity and travel convenience for passengers in these regions.
The Amrit Bharat train initiative aims to modernize the railway fleet, incorporating advanced technology and safety features. This program is aligned with the Indian governments broader transportation strategy, which seeks to bolster infrastructure and promote economic growth. Additional states are expected to benefit from these services as production ramps up and distribution expands across the country. The initiative also aligns with sustainability goals, as the Indian Railways strives to reduce its carbon footprint and transition towards more environmentally friendly practices.
