Himanta Biswa Sarma Submits Nomination in Assams Jalukbari Constituency for 2026 Assembly Elections

The Indian National Congress has officially finalized its alliance with Raijor Dal for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, ending weeks of negotiations. This alliance aims to strengthen the oppositions presence in the state, which has become increasingly competitive in recent electoral cycles.

Raijor Dal, founded in 2020, emerged as a significant political force in Assam, advocating for the rights of the indigenous populations and pressing for social justice in the region. The collaboration is expected to consolidate votes for both parties, particularly in areas where they have strong support bases.

As the elections approach, the Congress party is also focusing on key issues such as employment, education, and socio-economic development, while Raijor Dal intends to address concerns related to land rights and cultural preservation. The alliance seeks to present a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has maintained power in Assam since 2016.

Both parties are now preparing their campaign strategies and seeking to engage constituents through a series of rallies and public meetings. The Assam Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in early 2024.
