IMD Forecasts Increased Frequency of Heatwave Days Across Most of India

A recent weather forecast indicates that regions in East, Central, and Northwest India may experience above-normal temperatures in the coming months. In contrast, North India is expected to have a cooler-than-normal summer season. Additionally, the country is projected to receive approximately 12% more rainfall than average in April.

This variation in temperature and precipitation patterns may be attributed to shifts in climatic conditions, including the influence of the Indian Ocean Dipole and fluctuations in the monsoon system. The expected increase in rainfall could benefit agricultural practices in several states, potentially alleviating drought conditions and helping to maintain water supply levels heading into the crucial planting season.

Meteorological officials have advised farmers and residents to prepare for these weather changes and consider their potential impacts on agriculture, water management, and daily activities. The Indian Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the month progresses.
