“Information Commissioner Emphasizes Importance of Legal Awareness in Addressing Workplace Harassment”

Sudha Rani Advocates for Zero Tolerance and Effective Implementation of POSH Act at DSNLU Meeting

At a recent meeting held at the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Sudha Rani emphasized the importance of maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards workplace harassment and underscored the necessity for the effective implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, commonly known as the POSH Act.

Rani highlighted that the POSH Act aims to create a safe and conducive working environment for women and urged for stringent adherence to its provisions across all institutions. She stressed that the act not only protects women from harassment in the workplace but also promotes gender equality and dignity.

The meeting included discussions on best practices for implementing the POSH Act within educational institutions and workplaces, along with the formation of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) to address grievances effectively. Rani encouraged participants to engage in awareness programs aimed at educating both employees and management about their rights and responsibilities under the law.

As part of its commitment to fostering a respectful workplace culture, DSNLU plans to conduct training sessions and workshops focused on the provisions of the POSH Act and strategies for creating an inclusive environment. The meeting marks a significant step towards reinforcing the legal framework intended to combat workplace harassment and to protect womens rights in educational and professional settings.
