Karnataka Achieves Second Position in OMC-Managed EV Charging Network with 2,039 Stations
Karnataka has emerged as a leader in the establishment of operational charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) among major Indian states, surpassing Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat. The state currently boasts a significant number of charging stations managed by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), positioning it as a key player in the push for sustainable transportation. Uttar Pradesh remains at the forefront in this sector, with a total of 2,893 operational charging stations, establishing a vast network that far exceeds that of other states.
This development in Karnataka comes as part of a broader initiative to promote electric mobility and reduce carbon emissions. The states government has been actively encouraging the installation of charging infrastructure to facilitate the growing adoption of electric vehicles, which is aligned with national goals to transition towards cleaner energy solutions. The availability of more charging stations is critical for addressing range anxiety among potential EV buyers, ultimately fostering greater acceptance of electric vehicles. Overall, the growth of charging stations is indicative of increasing investments and policy support for the EV ecosystem in India.
