Karnataka Dairy Farming Families with Biogas Plants Less Affected by LPG Crisis

Over 1,700 dairy farming families across the Indian states of Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, who supply milk to Akshayakalpa, an organic milk producer, have successfully installed biogas plants. These installations have enabled the families to generate more biogas than required for their household needs, contributing to both energy efficiency and sustainable agricultural practices.

Akshayakalpa, known for its commitment to organic farming and sustainable dairy production, has been actively promoting the use of biogas technology among its suppliers. The biogas plants convert organic waste, including livestock manure and agricultural residues, into renewable energy. This process not only reduces dependence on traditional cooking fuels but also minimizes environmental pollution and helps in managing waste effectively.

The initiative aligns with broader efforts in India to promote renewable energy sources and improve the livelihoods of rural communities. By producing excess biogas, these dairy farming families are also exploring opportunities to sell the surplus energy or use it for other agricultural practices, thereby enhancing their economic resilience.
