Karnataka Launches Census Exercise with Self-Enumeration Window Opening Today

The census operation in India will commence on Wednesday in Karnataka, as well as seven other States and Union Territories. This nationwide census, the first comprehensive count since 2011, aims to provide crucial demographic data that will inform various government policies and programs.

In addition to Karnataka, the states participating in this phase of the census include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, along with the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The census process is expected to collect extensive information regarding population size, age distribution, education levels, and housing conditions, which is essential for effective planning and resource allocation. Officials estimate that the data gathered will support various sectors, including health, education, and infrastructure development, as India continues to grow and address the needs of its citizens.

The last full census was conducted in 2011, and delays in the current census due to the COVID-19 pandemic have heightened the need for accurate and timely demographic information.
