Karnataka SC/ST Commission Engages in Discussions Amid Uncertainty Over Internal Reservation
The Karnataka State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes convened a meeting to address the ongoing confusion regarding internal reservations among Scheduled Castes. The discussions were prompted by the recent decision to reduce the overall reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from 56% to 50% for 56,432 recruitment positions.
The meeting involved senior officials, former Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) members, and community representatives, who engaged in dialogues to better understand the implications of the reservation changes and strategize potential solutions.
This reduction in reservation has raised concerns within affected communities, as it may impact their representation in government positions. The Karnataka government has previously faced scrutiny over its reservation policies, and this latest development underscores the need for clear communication and understanding among all stakeholders involved in the recruitment process.
As discussions continue, it remains to be seen how the Commission will navigate these changes and address the concerns raised by community representatives.
