Karnataka SC/ST Commission Engages in Discussions Concerning Internal Reservation Issues
In response to ongoing discussions regarding internal reservations among Scheduled Castes, the Karnataka State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes convened a meeting to address the recent reduction in overall reservation percentages for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The overall reservation has been adjusted from 56% to 50% for the recruitment of 56,432 positions across various departments.
The meeting involved senior government officials, former Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) members, and representatives from the affected communities. Participants aimed to clarify the implications of the reservation changes and address the concerns related to equitable representation within the recruitment process.
This reduction in reservation percentages has raised questions among community leaders and stakeholders, as it directly impacts the access of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to government jobs. The Commissions deliberations are expected to lead to further discussions about implementing equitable policies that consider the diverse needs within these communities. As the situation develops, the Commission will continue to engage with various stakeholders to ensure that the interests of all communities are represented.
