Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Manjeswaram Gears Up for Close Contest Among Key Candidates
The United Democratic Front (UDF) has nominated A.K.M. Ashraf, the incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), for the upcoming elections. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has also announced its candidate, former BJP State president K. Surendran, who will be contesting again. Meanwhile, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has put forward K.R. Jayanandan, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretariat, as its candidate.
These nominations come ahead of the forthcoming elections, where all three parties are strategically positioning their candidates to strengthen their presence in the region. A.K.M. Ashraf has previously served as MLA, which may bolster his appeal among constituents. K. Surendran, known for his active role in state politics, will aim to leverage his prior leadership within the BJP to gather support. K.R. Jayanandan’s candidacy represents the LDFs effort to maintain its foothold in the district, as the party continues to promote its development agenda and leftist policies.
The elections are expected to be closely contested, with each party bringing distinct platforms and voter bases to the table.
