Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Manjeswaram Prepares for Competitive Race Among Major Candidates

In the upcoming elections, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has nominated the incumbent MLA A.K.M. Ashraf from the Indian Union Muslim League. Meanwhile, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has selected former BJP State President K. Surendran to contest once again. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has put forward K.R. Jayanandan, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretariat.

These selections come as political parties strategize for the elections scheduled to take place in the state of Kerala. A.K.M. Ashraf has previously represented his constituency effectively, focusing on community development and social welfare initiatives. K. Surendran aims to build on his previous experience and amplify issues such as economic growth and cultural integrity, which resonate with his voter base. K.R. Jayanandan brings a focus on progressive policies and grassroots engagement, representative of the LDF’s commitment to social justice and labor rights.

Each candidate will be looking to connect with their constituents ahead of the election, which is expected to be competitive, reflecting the diverse political landscape of the region.
