Kerala Chief Minister Attributes Indias Cooking Gas Crisis to Policies of Previous Congress and BJP Governments at the Center

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has stated that both the Congress party in 2006 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) subsequently have, in his view, surrendered to “American imperialism” by consistently rejecting proposals for the India-Iran gas pipeline. This pipeline, which was initially proposed as a means to enhance energy security and bolster economic ties between India and Iran, has been a topic of debate given the geopolitical implications and fluctuating international relations.

The proposed gas pipeline would have extended from Iran through Pakistan and into India, aiming to deliver natural gas to meet the growing energy demands of the Indian economy. However, concerns over regional security, U.S. sanctions on Iran, and the influence of American foreign policy have complicated the initiative.

Vijayans remarks underscore a persistent criticism among certain political factions in India that link energy policy decisions to external political pressures. As discussions continue around global energy needs and relationships, the future of such opportunities remains uncertain amid evolving geopolitical landscapes.
