KTR Suggests Renaming Streets in Response to Civic Issues in Hyderabad

In a recent statement, K.T. Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development in Telangana, criticized the Hyderabad civic body for its lack of initiative in addressing the citys mosquito problem. During a public event, Rao humorously suggested that if the civic body is unable to effectively tackle the issue of mosquitoes, they might as well rename streets to honor these pests.

His comments come in the wake of rising public concern over the increasing mosquito population in Hyderabad, which has been linked to a spike in vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. Rao urged the municipal officials to take more proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of residents, emphasizing the need for regular sanitation and effective mosquito control programs.

Hyderabad has experienced challenges related to urban sanitation and public health, leading to discussions about the importance of enhancing the citys infrastructure and health initiatives. The comments from KTR reflect a broader call to action for local authorities to prioritize the well-being of their constituents as well as the importance of urban cleanliness in preventing disease outbreaks.
