Major Ports Resolve 90% of Cargo Backlog Amid Disruptions in Hormuz

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal attributed the restoration of normalcy in port operations to the timely interventions and ongoing oversight by the Ministry.

In recent weeks, various challenges, including adverse weather conditions and operational disruptions, had affected port activities. The Ministry implemented strategic measures, including enhanced communication among stakeholders and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.

Minister Sonowal emphasized the importance of a coordinated effort between the central and state governments, as well as private sector partners, to address the issues effectively. He also highlighted the Ministrys commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of ports to better serve the growing demands of the shipping industry and support Indias trade objectives.

As part of ongoing improvements, the Ministry is exploring initiatives aimed at modernizing port infrastructure and adopting advanced technologies for better logistics management.
