Mayawati Asserts Responsibility for Jewar Airport Development, Criticizes SP and Congress

**Mayawati Claims Credit for Jewar International Airport Project, Criticizes Political Opposition**
In a recent statement, Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), asserted her contribution to the development of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Her remarks come shortly after Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister and leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), also claimed credit for the project.
Mayawati emphasized that the groundwork for this significant infrastructure initiative was laid during her tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. She criticized both the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress, questioning their lack of commitment to the project and alleging that they were now attempting to take undue credit.
The Jewar International Airport is set to be one of Indias largest greenfield airports and is expected to boost connectivity and economic growth in the region. Construction commenced in 2020, with plans to complete the project in phases, aiming to accommodate around 12 million passengers per year initially.
The political dynamics surrounding the airport project are reflective of the broader electoral landscape in Uttar Pradesh, where infrastructure initiatives often serve as key campaign issues leading up to elections.
