Mysore University Reports ₹54 Crore Deficit for the Fourth Consecutive Year

The ongoing financial shortfall can be largely attributed to an increasing pension liability. This rising burden on public and private pension systems has been a significant concern for policymakers, as demographic changes, such as an aging population and longer life expectancies, have intensified the strain on these funds.

Many pension plans are facing challenges in meeting their future obligations, leading to increased contributions from employers and employees. Further complicating the situation, fluctuating investment returns and lower interest rates have hindered the growth of pension fund assets. As communities and governments work to address this issue, discussions are taking place regarding potential reforms to pension systems to ensure their sustainability and financial health in the long term.
