Naidu Establishes Power Purchase Target of ₹4.60 per Unit for Andhra Pradesh by Year-End
Officials in Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, aim to reduce the states average power purchase cost to ₹4.60 per unit by the end of 2023. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency of power procurement and management in the state.
Additionally, the government has set an ambitious target for the future, stipulating that more than 50% of the state’s power generation should originate from renewable sources by the fiscal year 2028-29. This shift towards renewable energy is aligned with Indias national commitment to increase the share of clean energy in its overall energy mix, addressing both environmental concerns and the need for sustainable energy solutions.
As part of these efforts, Andhra Pradesh plans to invest in solar, wind, and other renewable projects, which may also create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region. This strategic focus could position the state as a leader in renewable energy in India, aligning with the governments broader goals of improving energy security and reducing carbon emissions.
