PM Modi Engages in Dialogue with Iran President; Advocates for Navigation Freedom in the Gulf

As of March 20, 2023, the Government of India has successfully evacuated approximately 882 Indian citizens, including businesspersons, students, and pilgrims, from Iran. This operation has been conducted via neighboring countries Armenia and Azerbaijan.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reported that the initiative is part of Indias ongoing efforts to assist its nationals stranded in Iran. The situation stems from increasing tensions in the region, prompting the need for a coordinated evacuation.

Indias Ministry of External Affairs is actively working to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad and has mobilized the necessary resources for the evacuation process. The government has urged citizens to remain in touch with the Indian embassies and consulates for support and updates.
