PM Modi Leads Security Meeting to Address West Asia Crisis and its Implications for LPG and Trade

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a security meeting to discuss the ongoing crisis in West Asia on April 1, 2026. The primary focus of the meeting was the potential implications of the crisis on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies and broader trade relations.
The meeting involved senior officials from various ministries, including External Affairs and Oil & Natural Gas, as well as key national security advisors. Concerns were raised regarding the stability of energy supplies, given that several countries in West Asia are significant suppliers of LPG to India.
In addition to the economic aspects, the discussions also encompassed the geopolitical dimensions of the crisis, acknowledging the crucial role West Asia plays in India’s energy security framework. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for diversifying energy sources and enhancing domestic production capabilities to mitigate potential disruptions in supply chains.
Furthermore, the government is expected to monitor the situation closely and engage with international partners to ensure stability in trade relations and energy security.
