Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India held a phone conversation with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During their discussion, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of ensuring safe navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime corridor, through which a substantial portion of the worlds oil supply is transported. This waterway connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is vital for the energy security of many countries, including India, which is one of the largest oil importers in the world.
The conversation comes amid heightened global concerns over maritime security and regional stability in the Middle East. Both leaders acknowledged the need for collaboration to enhance security in the region and facilitate uninterrupted trade and energy flows.
The UAE and India share strong economic ties and have been working together to bolster their strategic partnership across various sectors, including trade, energy, and security. This dialogue underscores their commitment to maintaining stability and cooperation in maritime corridors critical to both nations economic interests.
