Railways Reports Savings of ₹6,000 Crore from Transition to Electric Power, Says Vaishnaw in Lok Sabha

In a recent discussion regarding funding requests from the Railway Ministry, an official highlighted that the Indian Railways has achieved the status of the second largest cargo carrier globally. This significant development underscores the growth and expansion of the national transporter’s operations, which play a crucial role in the country’s logistics and economy.

Indian Railways has been investing in infrastructure upgrades and technology to enhance its freight services. This includes modernization of tracks, introduction of multimodal logistics parks, and expansion of its network to accommodate increasing cargo demands. The growth in cargo transport capacity not only facilitates trade but also contributes to the goal of reducing carbon emissions by shifting freight from road to rail.

As the Railway Ministry seeks additional grants for further enhancements, the emphasis remains on improving service efficiency and increasing capacity to sustain this remarkable growth trajectory.
