Rival Parties Seek to Regain Influence in Southern Districts of Tamil Nadu

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is currently confronting challenges from two prominent figures within its former leadership: O. Panneerselvam and V.K. Sasikala. Panneerselvam, who has aligned himself with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has been actively campaigning in the southern region, having conducted 40 meetings aimed at consolidating support for his political agenda.

On the other hand, V.K. Sasikala, who serves as the head of the Amma Ilaiya Peravai Thamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK), is set to commence her own campaign tour today. Sasikala, previously the interim general secretary of AIADMK, has been vocal about her ambitions to reclaim influence in Tamil Nadu politics.

Both leaders’ actions signify a strategic move to increase their political foothold in the state as the political landscape evolves ahead of upcoming elections. Their respective tours could potentially sway AIADMK supporters and reshape alliances within the region, which has traditionally been dominated by the DMK and AIADMK parties.
