SAAP Proposes ₹53 Crore Indoor Stadium in Rajamahendravaram
**Development of Water Sports Infrastructure Announced in Rajamahendravaram**
The Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has announced plans to develop water sports infrastructure in Rajamahendravaram. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote water sports in the region and enhance the facilities available for both local and international events.
In conjunction with this development, Rajamahendravaram will be the host city for the International Dragon Boat League (IDBL) in 2026. The event is expected to attract approximately 12,000 athletes from 25 countries, showcasing the sports global appeal and the citys capacity to host large-scale sporting events.
The IDBL will not only promote dragon boat racing—a traditional water sport with roots in ancient China—but also aim to boost tourism and local economy through increased visitor interest and participation. The upcoming infrastructure improvements are anticipated to include new training facilities, access points for competitors and spectators, and other essential amenities to support the athletes during the competition.
This strategic initiative highlights Andhra Pradeshs commitment to enhancing its reputation as a leading destination for sports and tourism, fostering community engagement and economic growth within the region.
