Shashi Tharoor Asserts Congress is Leading in Kerala, Despite Narrow Margin
In a recent statement, Congressman and Thiruvananthapuram MP clarified that the upcoming election in Kerala is essentially a contest between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF). He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has historically struggled to gain traction in the Kerala Assembly, currently holding no seats. The Congress leader noted that even in the event the BJP secures one to three seats—an outcome he deemed uncertain—they would still be unable to play a significant role in the formation of the government.
In Keralas political landscape, the LDF and UDF have been the dominant coalitions, often alternating power in the state assembly elections. The BJP has made efforts to expand its influence in the region, but has yet to achieve significant electoral success. Analysts suggest that Keralas electorate remains largely influenced by local and regional issues, with the major parties continuing to prioritize their long-standing voter bases.
As the election date approaches, both the LDF and UDF are expected to ramp up their campaigning strategies, focusing on key issues such as employment, healthcare, and infrastructure development to appeal to voters.
