Supreme Court Approval Required for Delays in Appointing State DGPs, According to New UPSC Regulation

The Attorney General has informed the Supreme Court that there is no provision allowing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to approve prolonged delays in certain appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court has stated that states do not have the authority to appoint an acting Director General of Police (DGP), as such a position is not recognized within existing legal frameworks.
