Supreme Court Approval Required for Delays in Appointment of State DGPs, According to UPSCs New Regulation

The Attorney General informed the Supreme Court that there is no legal provision allowing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to overlook significant delays in appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court clarified that states do not have the authority to appoint an acting Director General of Police (DGP), as this concept is not recognized in law.
