Tamil Nadu Government Unveils Draft Regulations for State Mental Healthcare, 2026

The Tamil Nadu State Mental Health Authority has announced the establishment of a comprehensive register for mental health professionals practicing within the state. This register will be updated on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and relevance. In addition, the Authority plans to release a district-wise directory of mental health professionals annually on January 1, providing residents with easy access to available services.

This initiative aims to enhance the visibility and accessibility of mental health support across Tamil Nadu, addressing the growing need for mental health services. By creating a transparent system for identifying qualified practitioners, the Authority seeks to improve public awareness and confidence in accessing mental health care.
