Voter Lists of 12 States and UTs Following SIR Phase II Reduced by 10.2%

Uttar Pradesh has reported the highest net deletion of voters in India, with a total decrease of approximately 2.04 crore (20.4 million) registered voters. Conversely, Lakshadweep recorded the lowest net deletion, with only 181 voters removed from the electoral rolls.

The significant decline in Uttar Pradeshs voter registration can be attributed to various factors, including updates to voter rolls, changes in residency, and efforts by the Election Commission to enhance the accuracy of electoral lists. This extensive deletion highlights the challenges faced in maintaining accurate voter data in a state with a large population.

In contrast, Lakshadweeps minimal deletion indicates a stable voter base, which reflects the regions smaller population size and potentially less movement among residents. The Election Commissions ongoing efforts to streamline voter registration and ensure accurate electoral rolls are essential in promoting fair and democratic elections across the country.

As the nation approaches upcoming elections, maintaining accurate and updated voter lists will be crucial for ensuring civic participation and upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
