24 Indian Sailors Rescued from Vessel Struck by U.S. Missile

The U.S. Central Command has reported that the tanker Marivex, which was sanctioned by the United States last December, attempted to sail to an Iranian port, thereby violating the existing U.S. blockade. The vessel had previously transported Iranian oil to India.

The Central Command indicated that the actions of the Marivex are being closely monitored as part of broader efforts to enforce sanctions against entities engaging in trade with Iran. The blockade is part of the U.S. strategy aimed at restricting Irans oil exports, which are critical to the countrys economy.

The sailors aboard the Marivex are expected to arrive in India within two days. Authorities in India have not yet commented on the situation concerning the tanker or its crew.

In the context of U.S.-Iran relations, it is important to note that tensions have escalated over the past years, particularly concerning Iran’s nuclear program and regional activities. The U.S. has employed shipping sanctions as a tool to deter what it perceives as violations of international agreements and to curtail Irans influence in the region.
