301 Passengers Fined for Traveling Without Tickets on a Single Train in Tamil Nadu
During a recent special ticket-checking operation conducted by the Salem Railway Division, a total of ₹2.64 lakh was collected in penalties on the Coimbatore-Silchar Weekly Express (Train No. 15627).
This operation aimed to enhance compliance with ticketing regulations and ensure passenger safety. The initiative is part of the Indian Railways’ broader efforts to curb ticketless travel and promote fair usage of services. Ticket-checking teams inspected passenger tickets and related records, leading to the collection of fines from individuals traveling without valid tickets.
The Salem Railway Division has frequently implemented such drives to bolster revenue and maintain order on trains. Regular ticket-checking drives have been shown to significantly reduce the incidence of fare evasion, thereby improving overall travel experience for passengers who adhere to ticketing rules.
