Trade Unions Call for Repeal of Four New Labour Codes

Trade unions are preparing to oppose the newly introduced Labour Codes, according to Ch. Narasinga Rao, the State General Secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). Rao expressed that the unions are committed to a sustained campaign against these codes, which they believe undermine workers rights and benefits.

The Labour Codes, which aim to simplify and consolidate various labor laws into a more streamlined framework, have been a point of contention among labor representatives. Critics, including CITU, argue that the new regulations could lead to reduced job security, lower wages, and diminished labor protections.

In response to these concerns, Rao urged union members and workers to mobilize and engage in discussions about the implications of the changes. He emphasized the importance of solidarity among workers to effectively challenge the proposed legislation.

As the situation develops, various labor organizations are expected to collaborate in their opposition to the Labour Codes, highlighting the need for a comprehensive review and dialogue regarding the labor reforms to ensure that they are equitable and just for all workers.
