Congress Releases Initial List of 55 Candidates for Kerala Assembly Elections 2026, Decision Pending on MPs Interested in Running

K.C. Venugopal, the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, has stated that the party will deliberate on the requests made by Members of Parliament (MPs) regarding their desire to contest in the upcoming elections at a later stage.

Currently, the Congress party has not yet announced the candidates for the Kannur and Konni constituencies, from which MPs K. Sudhakaran and Adoor Prakash respectively have expressed their interest in running.

The initial candidate list released by the party includes 20 incumbent Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), indicating a focus on retaining existing representation. As the election period approaches, further discussions within the party are expected to clarify the nomination process and candidate selection for various constituencies.

The Congress partys strategic planning could play a crucial role in its performance in the upcoming elections, especially in Kerala, where local party dynamics and voter sentiment are significant factors.
