President Murmu Awards Kirti Chakras to Seven Recipients, Including IAF Pilot Prasanth Nair
Two Navy officers, Lt. Commander Dilna K. and Lt. Commander Roopa A., have been honored with the prestigious Shaurya Chakra for their exemplary service during the completion of Navika Sagar Parikrama II. This mission marked a significant step in Indias maritime exploration efforts, emphasizing the capabilities of women in the armed forces.
In addition, Sepoy Janjal Pravin Prabhakar of the Mahar Regiment of the Rashtriya Rifles and Lt. Shashank Tiwari of the Sikkim Scouts have been posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, which recognizes exceptional courage and valor in the face of adversity. The awards were presented as part of the ongoing efforts to honor the sacrifices of Indian armed forces personnel, highlighting their commitment to national security.
The Shaurya Chakra is the third highest peacetime military decoration in India, awarded for bravery and distinguished service, while the Kirti Chakra is the second highest award for combat bravery. Both awards reflect the dedication and sacrifices made by service members in service to the nation.
