Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Majority of Incumbent MLAs in Kozhikode to Seek Re-election; CPI(M) to Present No Female Candidate

Following the 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) secured a total of 11 seats in the Kozhikode district, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) managed to elect two representatives. The LDF, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), has traditionally maintained a strong presence in the region, focusing on policies aimed at social welfare and economic development. In contrast, the UDF, which is primarily composed of the Indian National Congress and its allies, has been working to regain its foothold in the area. The dynamics between these two political fronts continue to shape the political landscape of Kozhikode, a district known for its rich cultural heritage and economic significance in Kerala.
