Indias EV Retail Sales Rise 24.6% to 2.45 Million Units in FY26, Reports FADA
According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), electric two-wheelers registered sales exceeding 1.4 million units in the fiscal year 2026. Meanwhile, electric passenger vehicle sales approached the 200,000-unit mark, reflecting a significant growth rate of 83.63% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The rise in electric two-wheeler sales can be attributed to increasing consumer interest in sustainable mobility solutions, as well as supportive government policies and incentives aimed at promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Major manufacturers have also expanded their electric offerings, contributing to enhanced market competition.
Though electric passenger vehicles fell just short of the 200,000-unit milestone, the substantial year-over-year growth indicates a positive trend in consumer acceptance of electric alternatives in the passenger car segment. Industry experts believe that continued advancements in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and government initiatives will further accelerate the transition to electric mobility in the coming years.
