YSRCP Raises Concerns Over Alleged Misrepresentation of State Debt Data in Complaint to Governor

A report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), presented in March 2026, estimates the total debt for the financial year 2024–25 to be ₹81,082.51 crore. This estimate reportedly conflicts with the figures previously disclosed in the Legislative Council. Botcha Satyanarayana, a prominent political figure, has raised concerns regarding this discrepancy, suggesting that it may indicate a lack of transparency or accountability in financial reporting.

The CAG is responsible for auditing the accounts of the state government and ensuring that public expenditure is carried out in accordance with established financial guidelines. The stark difference in the reported debt figures may prompt further scrutiny and discussions in the Legislative Assembly, particularly regarding fiscal management and budgetary practices. Given the critical role of transparent financial reporting in governance, this issue could have implications for public trust and the administrations fiscal policies moving forward.
