Government Engages with Seafood Exporters to Provide Support
During a recent meeting, officials highlighted a significant achievement in Indias seafood export sector. The exports have reached a new high, increasing from ₹62,000 crore in the previous fiscal year to approximately ₹68,000 crore in the current year. This marks a net growth of around ₹6,000 crore, indicating a robust upward trend in the industry.
The growth in seafood exports can be attributed to several factors, including improved fishing practices, increased demand in international markets, and the establishment of quality certification standards that meet global benchmarks. Major export destinations include the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, where there is a rising appetite for various seafood products. Additionally, the governments initiatives to bolster the aquaculture industry and support local fishermen have played a crucial role in this growth.
As India continues to expand its presence in the global seafood supply chain, stakeholders are optimistic about maintaining this momentum and exploring new markets to further enhance export opportunities.
