Tamil Nadu Election 2026: Palaniswami Receives Support from PMK in Edappadi

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party secured victory in the constituency during the elections of 1967 and 1971. Following this period, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has achieved electoral success on seven occasions. Among these victories, former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has been elected five times.

This constituency includes significant regions such as Edappadi taluk, portions of Mettur taluk, and the town panchayats of Konganapuram, Nangavalli, and Jalakandapuram. Agriculture plays a crucial role in the local economy, with many residents engaged in farming-related activities. The areas agricultural activities are centered around crops such as sugarcane, paddy, and various pulses, contributing to both local sustenance and the larger agricultural economy of Tamil Nadu.
