Commercial LPG prices reduced by over Rs 200; current 19-kg cylinder rates in major cities

Commercial LPG Prices Reduced Significantly in Major Cities

In a recent development, the price of commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders has been reduced by over ₹200 in two of Indias major metropolitan areas—Delhi and Kolkata.

As of today, the price for a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has dropped to ₹1,981.50 in Delhi, down from ₹2,183.50. In Kolkata, the new price is set at ₹2,120.50, a decrease from ₹2,329.50. This reduction is expected to provide relief to businesses and sectors heavily reliant on commercial LPG for cooking and heating.

The price cut is in contrast to the unchanged rates for domestic LPG cylinders, which have remained stable despite fluctuations in global oil prices. The last revision for domestic cylinders occurred on August 4, 2023, when the government had already made adjustments to commercial cylinder rates.

The rationale behind the price adjustments is often rooted in international crude oil prices, currency exchange rates, and production costs. The Indian government periodically assesses these factors to determine suitable price points for LPG, which is essential for many commercial establishments, including restaurants and catering services.

Additionally, LPG continues to play a critical role in Indias energy sector, with the government actively promoting the use of clean cooking fuel across urban and rural areas as part of its commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

For continued updates on fuel prices and further economic implications, authorities encourage businesses and consumers to monitor official announcements periodically.
