Karnataka Faces Monsoon Deficit in All but Five Districts, According to Chief Minister

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that the responsibility for ensuring a reliable supply of drinking water in the state rests with the Deputy Commissioners of each district. During a recent meeting, Siddaramaiah emphasized the need for effective management and monitoring of water resources, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges posed by climate change and urbanization.

The Chief Ministers comments come as the state faces water scarcity issues that have become increasingly pressing. He urged local officials to prioritize the maintenance of water supply systems and to implement strategies that can alleviate shortages, especially in rural areas where access to potable water often remains limited.

In response to the Chief Ministers directive, Deputy Commissioners are expected to develop comprehensive plans that focus on increasing water conservation, improving infrastructure, and ensuring equitable distribution among residents. Additionally, the government may consider launching public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on water preservation techniques.

This initiative is part of Karnatakas broader efforts to address water management challenges and improve living conditions for its residents. The state has been investing in various programs aimed at enhancing water supply and sanitation, funded in part by the National Rural Drinking Water Programme and other central schemes.
