NIT-C Report on Brahmpuram Legacy Waste Anticipated on May 11

The newly elected United Democratic Front (UDF) council has reappointed the National Institute of Technology – Calicut (NIT-C) for its ongoing waste management efforts. During the preceding Left Democratic Front (LDF) administration, NIT-C conducted a comprehensive assessment and identified an additional 146,000 tonnes of legacy waste beyond the original estimate of 700,000 tonnes designated for biomining.

This reappointment aims to enhance the efficiency of waste management initiatives within the region, particularly focusing on the effective processing of legacy waste through biomining techniques. Legacy waste refers to accumulated waste that has been improperly managed over time, and addressing this issue is critical for environmental sustainability and public health.

The UDF councils decision reflects a continuous commitment to tackling the growing waste management challenge, which has garnered increasing attention due to its implications for urban health and environmental conditions.
