Tamil Nadu Received Less Rice Than Allocated Under Antyodaya Anna Yojana in Five of the Past Seven Years

Between the financial years 2019-20 and 2025-26, the off-take of goods saw significant fluctuations, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020-21. During this period, the drawal approached the allocated figure of approximately 6.99 lakh tonnes, with an impressive off-take rate of nearly 98%.

However, in the subsequent years, the off-take percentages varied considerably. For instance, in the years 2022-23 and 2023-24, the off-take was recorded at around 73%. This indicated a notable decrease compared to the pandemic year. The following year, 2024-25, saw some improvement, with off-take levels rising to approximately 79%.

These variations in off-take can be attributed to several factors, including supply chain disruptions due to COVID-19, changing consumer demand, and economic recovery efforts. Understanding these trends is crucial for stakeholders in planning and resource allocation in the coming years.
