More than 300 Tourists Rescued from High-Altitude Cable Cars in Gulmarg

Tourists experienced significant distress as 65 gondolas became stranded in Gulmarg due to a technical malfunction. Compounding the situation, inclement weather, characterized by strong winds and heavy rain, affected the area during the rescue effort.

The rescue operation, which involved the deployment of 15 teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), lasted for over four hours. Fortunately, all stranded individuals were safely evacuated. Authorities have stated that they are investigating the cause of the technical issue that led to the gondola failure.

Gulmarg, a popular ski resort destination in Jammu and Kashmir, sees an influx of tourists, particularly during the winter months. The gondola service is a key attraction, offering visitors breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Following the incident, officials are reviewing safety protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
