PDPS Calls on NDDB to Assume Control of Closed Ongole Dairy to Support Prakasam Milk Farmers

The Prakasam Dairy Parirakshana Samithi has formally requested that the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) take over the operations of the Prakasam Milk Producer Company, which has been inactive for some time. The NDDB previously managed the company from 2005 to 2013, during which it played a significant role in supporting local dairy farmers and promoting milk production in the region.

The Prakasam Milk Producer Company, located in Andhra Pradesh, is vital for local dairy farming communities. The shut-down of operations has raised concerns among farmers regarding their livelihoods and the availability of a reliable market for their milk. The Parirakshana Samithi argues that re-engagement of the NDDB could help revitalize the company and improve the economic conditions of dairy producers in the area.

The National Dairy Development Board is known for its efforts to enhance the dairy sector across India through initiatives that support cooperative structures and improve productivity. Stakeholders are optimistic that if the NDDB resumes management, it could lead to reinvestment in infrastructure, technology, and training for local farmers, thereby supporting the wider agricultural economy in Prakasam district. The NDDB has yet to respond publicly to the request from the Prakasam Dairy Parirakshana Samithi.
