ICC Announces All-Female Officiating Panel for 2026 Womens T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the appointment of an all-female officiating panel for the 2026 Womens T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in England and Wales. This decision highlights a continued commitment to gender equality in sports, as this will be the third consecutive edition of the tournament featuring exclusively female umpires and referees.
The officiating team will consist of 14 umpires and 4 referees, with veteran umpire Claire Polosak appointed as the lead official. Polosak, who has made history as the first woman to officiate in a men’s domestic match in Australia, brings significant experience to the panel. The lineup also includes several umpires making their debut at this prestigious event, signaling a new generation of female officials in cricket.
The Womens T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in early 2026, providing a platform not only for some of the best womens cricket teams in the world but also for female officiating talent to shine on a global stage. The ICCs decision reflects an ongoing effort to promote inclusivity and encourage more women to pursue careers in officiating.
