Among those who cleared the examination, 10,107 were female candidates, reflecting ongoing efforts to promote gender diversity in engineering fields.
The JEE Advanced is seen as one of the most challenging entrance examinations in the country, consisting of two papers that test students knowledge and problem-solving abilities in physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
The 2026 results indicate a growing number of participants, as well as a steady increase in female representation in the engineering sector. In recent years, initiatives have been launched to encourage more female students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Admission into IITs, which are known for their high academic standards and lucrative career opportunities, is contingent upon performance in this exam.
Candidates who passed the JEE Advanced will now have the opportunity to seek admission into various undergraduate programs offered by IITs and other esteemed technical institutions across the country.
