Jonnagiri Gold Mine Anticipated to Produce One Tonne of Gold Annually as Indias Largest Private Operation

Recent geological surveys indicate that approximately 12 tonnes of gold could be found beneath the Jonnagiri region in Andhra Pradesh. Mining experts suggest that this reserve has the potential to yield around 400 kilograms of gold during the 2026-27 financial year.

If extraction proceeds as planned, the government of Andhra Pradesh could receive a royalty payment of 4% on the gold produced. This could provide a significant boost to the states economy, potentially funding various infrastructure and development projects.

Gold mining in India has drawn attention in recent years due to fluctuations in global gold prices and increasing demand. The Jonnagiri gold mine, operated by Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC), has historically been a site of interest for mining activities, and further exploration could enhance the regions position in the national and international mining industries.
